Frequently Asked Questions
Please find some of our most frequently asked questions and their corresponding answers below. If you have any questions about the services we provide or anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us via the contact page on the website. Thank you.
How does the process work?
First of all, you can browse the website to discover example poetry and artwork, as well as reviews and testimonials, in order to get a flavour of the work we produce for our clients.
Next, take a look at our poetry packages to decide which is the best fit for you and the occasion you wish to commemorate.
Once you’ve made this decision, all you need to do is place your order and provide all the necessary information in the boxes provided. You can use the guidance on the relevant poetry package page to help you provide the kind of information that the writer will need to create a truly bespoke poem. Whilst it's unlikely that we'll use all the information you provide, having plenty to go by allows the poet to be selective in their artistic approach.
Once you have placed your order, please send the relevant photograph for the matching artwork to editor@yoursandminepoetry.com if you have selected a relevant package. Other than that, sit back and wait for your poem to arrive within the next 5-10 working days via the email provided on checkout - though we may be in touch should we feel that more information is required for the poem.
Can my poem be about any type of occasion or special person?
Absolutely! We encourage our clients to provide as much information as possible on the subject matter of their poems. We are also more than happy to accommodate specific themes, styles, or preferences for your bespoke poetry, though you are paying for our creativity and expertise at crafting original and high-quality work. During the ordering process, you will have the opportunity to provide us with detailed information and preferences to guide the creation of your poem, but if you need to provide us with more then please email editor@yoursandminepoetry.com to let us know.
What kind of information do you need to write the poem?
For more guidance on what information we require in order to write a purchased poem, please see our individual poetry packages pages on the website. It's worth remembering that our service doesn't simply force lots of biographical information into a simple rhyme like other bespoke poetry services; instead, we focus on specific moments and unique feelings, drawing out the essence of the subject matter through a much closer, personal approach.
If I’m buying the Gold or Platinum package, what kind of photograph should I upload?
Our wonderful artist is highly-skilled and experienced at capturing the beauty of a relationship, moment or event in a beautiful watercolour drawing. As long as the photograph is clear and is linked to the requested subject matter of the poem, there are no special requirements. However, we limit photographs to a maximum of two figures (including animals) in order to ensure that quality.
How long does it take for me to receive my order?
Typically, you can expect to receive your poem within 10-15 working days of placing your order. We will provide you with an estimated delivery date upon order confirmation and, of course, be in touch if there are any complications to let you know as soon as possible.
What kind of edits can I request to my poem?
Edit requests can be made in line with the purchased poetry package. Whilst most of our clients choose to leave the poem exactly as it first arrived, you may wish to request changes for the following reasons:
-
unclear or inaccurate biographical information
-
limited words, phrases or images deemed too emotional for inclusion
-
minor contextual changes that have taken place since the initial order
-
reasonable personal preference in relation to specific linguistic devices
Edits cannot be made in relation to the following:
-
negative feedback from the person/s to whom the poem was gifted
-
any changes deemed by the writer to be too significant if based on inaccurate information provided by the client
-
changes that affect the overall structure of the poem
-
edits that require additional lines or stanzas
Do you offer refunds?

Why are your prices different on Etsy?
Although I'm a small UK business and not VAT-registered, Etsy is required by law to collect VAT on some orders — especially for customers in the EU, UK, and other countries. This tax is added by Etsy, not me, and is paid directly to your local tax authority. I don’t receive any of it. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch — I’m always happy to help!
